Solventless Polyurethane

Polyurethane is any Polymer containing urethane used as plastic, durable elastomer, rubber, adhesive, paint, or to shape a hard, resistant coating.

This is a polymer that has several uses and can be molded into any form. We use polyurethane on our injected product and we also use polyurethane orthodics for comfort on the inside of the boots.

Explanation is given of a solventless polyurethane dispersal having a high solids content of polyurethane polymer or fillers, which would be available by allowing a comparatively high molecular weight component and, a low molecular weight as per your desire and requirement.

Solventless Polyurethane Advantages:

  • Ø Solventless waterborne polyurethanes are much lower in VOC’s than water-borne polyurethanes that include co-solvent.
  • Ø Solventless waterborne polyurethanes are few, destructive on sensitive substrates that can be damaged by solvents
  • Ø Solventless polyurethanes are truly faster drying than many other types of polyurethane that contain co-solvent as the most general co-solvents are much slower to evaporate than water.
  • Ø Solventless polyurethanes are yet more environmentally and user responsive than waterborne polyurethanes that contain co-solvent.

Advancements in Solventless Technology for Silicone PSAs:

Silicone pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) are being used for many years in areas where distinctive organic PSAs are unsuccessful. The most important uses are applications where large temperature extremes arise. Silicone PSAs are formed with the specified ratio of resins and polymers collectively in a hydrocarbon solvent.

Solventless polyurethanes

Heating the blend to promote a condensation reaction between the existing silanol functionality on the resins and polymers can additionally enhance the original cohesive potency of the adhesive. Recent development effort at Dow Corning has formed a new-fangled prototype solventless silicone PSA using the standard examination methods of peels adhesion, probe tack and high-temperature cut off.
